Luddenden Foot Community Association are holding a ‘Sand, scrape and paint’ party at Luddenden Foot Civic Institute
Luddenden Foot Community Association are holding a ‘Sand, scrape and paint’ party at Luddenden Foot Civic Institute, Station Road, Luddenden Foot on Saturday, 30th November 2013 from 9.30 am to 11.30 am.
Mrs Heather Hartwell (Secretary) said “When the Association took over the management of the building earlier this year, we realised that there were major problems with the roof and rain was penetrating into the building. We have had temporary repairs undertaken to ensure that the users of the building are now able to operate in a dry building and plasterwork has been carried out to a ceiling in one room. We therefore need the assistance of the community in Luddenden Foot and the surrounding area to get the room painted in order that we can use it as an office and information point for local organisations.
Police drop-in sessions take place in the building every Friday morning from 11.30 am – 12.30 pm and it would be useful to have an area where people could speak to agencies in private. We have been very fortunate that Lloyds Banking Group have kindly provided us with some office furniture to furnish the room.
The completion of the office area is the first step in a major refurbishment of the building which we estimate will cost £0.75 million pounds. We know that we have a long journey ahead of us but we want the community to realise that we are dedicated to making this building a hub for all who live and work here. We hope many people will turn up and help us with this project”.
